Located at an altitude of 2,390 metres on the slopes of Mount Teide, the Teide Observatory is one of the world's leading solar observatories and among Europe's most important astronomical research centres. Thanks to Tenerife's exceptionally clear skies and favourable atmospheric conditions, it has been at the forefront of international astronomical research for decades.
Guided visits offer participants the opportunity to explore the observatory, discover how astronomers study the Sun and the Universe, observe the Sun through professional solar telescopes, and learn about the pioneering scientific work carried out by the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias (IAC). It is a unique destination where science, innovation, and Tenerife's extraordinary natural environment come together to create an inspiring educational experience.
ITER – Instituto Tecnológico y de Energías Renovables is one of Tenerife’s key centres for sustainability, renewable energy and technological innovation. Founded by the Cabildo de Tenerife in 1990, ITER works in areas such as renewable energy, engineering, telecommunications and environmental research, helping to promote sustainable development and technological progress on the island.
For Erasmus+ students, ITER offers a valuable opportunity to connect learning with real-life innovation. A visit allows participants to explore clean energy, sustainable architecture, climate challenges, and digital transformation in a practical setting, making it especially relevant for programmes focused on sustainability, science, technology, the environment, and the green transition.
